How to use Turkey Income Tax Calculator

This Turkey income tax calculator estimates your income tax (gelir vergisi) and SGK social security based on your annual income and the year you select. Turkey applies a progressive annual tariff with five rates — 15%, 20%, 27%, 35% and 40% — and no tax-free band, so the first lira is taxed at 15%. The thresholds are re-indexed for inflation every year, which is why 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 differ so much even though the rates are unchanged. Pick a year to see your effective rate, marginal rate, a band-by-band breakdown and an estimated take-home figure after income tax and SGK.

  1. Select your year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) from the dropdown.
  2. Enter your annual gross income in Turkish lira (salary before tax).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual — Turkey taxes individuals.
  4. Click Calculate to see your income tax, SGK, effective rate and marginal rate.
  5. Review the band-by-band breakdown and your estimated take-home pay.

How Turkish income tax brackets work

Turkey uses a progressive annual tariff that taxes only the income within each band, not your whole income. There is no tax-free threshold — the first lira is taxed at 15%. On TRY 300,000 in 2025 you pay 15% on the first TRY 158,000 (TRY 23,700) and 20% on the next TRY 142,000 (TRY 28,400) — about TRY 52,100 in income tax, an effective rate near 17.4% well below the higher 27%, 35% and 40% rates that apply to larger incomes.

Why the brackets change every year

Turkey re-indexes the tariff each year by the revaluation rate (yeniden değerleme oranı) to offset inflation. The five rates stay the same, but the thresholds widen sharply: the 15% band reached TRY 70,000 in 2023, TRY 110,000 in 2024 and TRY 158,000 in 2025. As a result the same TRY 300,000 income pays about TRY 67,000 in 2023, TRY 59,400 in 2024 and TRY 52,100 in 2025 — use the year selector to compare them.

SGK social security and take-home pay

Employees in Turkey pay a mandatory SGK deduction — 14% social security plus 1% unemployment insurance, 15% of gross — up to the SGK ceiling (tavan), which is 7.5× the gross minimum wage. For a simple annual estimate this calculator applies a flat 15% capped at the annual ceiling (TRY 2,340,495 in 2025). On TRY 300,000 that is TRY 45,000; income above the ceiling adds no further SGK. SGK is shown separately and subtracted in your take-home figure.

No local or regional income tax

Unlike the United States, Turkey has no local or regional personal income tax. Income tax is national and collected by the Revenue Administration (Gelir İdaresi Başkanlığı), so your gelir vergisi plus SGK is the full picture for a salaried worker — there is no extra regional layer, which is why this calculator has no region selector.
