How to use DR Congo Income Tax Calculator

This DR Congo income tax calculator works out the personal income tax (IPR) on employment income for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The DRC uses a progressive annual scale: 3% up to CDF 1,944,000, then 15%, 30% and 40% bands apply as income rises. The calculator shows your income tax, effective rate and take-home pay in Congolese francs, and lets you compare any two tax years side by side. Total IPR is capped at 30% of salary by law; this cap is documented but not applied automatically.

  1. Select your tax year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — the IPR scale is identical in every year.
  2. Enter your annual gross salary in Congolese francs (CDF).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual.
  4. Click Calculate to see your income tax, effective rate and take-home pay.
  5. Turn on the year-comparison view to see two tax years side by side.

How DR Congo IPR works

The DRC taxes employment income (IPR) on a four-band progressive annual scale. The first CDF 1,944,000 is taxed at 3%, then 15% up to CDF 21,600,000, 30% up to CDF 43,200,000 and 40% above that. Only the part of your salary inside each band is taxed at that band’s rate. The scale has been unchanged across 2023–2026, so the calculator returns consistent results for each of those years.

The 30% cap, special rates and social security

By law the total IPR cannot exceed 30% of taxable salary. This cap is documented here but not applied automatically, so results for very high salaries (above roughly CDF 78,000,000 a year, where the 40% band would push the effective rate past 30%) are an upper bound. Casual day workers are taxed at a preferential 15% and contract-termination payments at 10%; employers of expatriates also pay a separate IERE. Employees contribute to the CNSS, documented separately and not deducted here, so take-home is shown after income tax only.
