How to use Crypto Profit Calculator

A crypto profit calculator tells you exactly how much you made — or lost — on a cryptocurrency trade once fees are taken into account. You enter the price you bought at, the price you sold at, the quantity of coins, and your exchange fee rate. The tool then computes your total cost (including the buy fee), your net proceeds (after the sell fee), the resulting profit or loss, and the ROI as a percentage. Because fees are charged on both sides of a trade, factoring them in gives a far more honest picture of your real return than simply subtracting buy price from sell price.

  1. Enter the price you bought the coin at.
  2. Enter the price you sold (or plan to sell) at.
  3. Enter the quantity of coins traded.
  4. Enter your exchange fee percentage per side.
  5. Read the profit or loss, ROI and total fees.

How profit and ROI are calculated

The calculation has two sides. On the buy side, your gross cost is the buy price multiplied by the quantity, and the exchange fee is added on top, so your total cost is slightly more than the headline amount. On the sell side, your gross proceeds are the sell price times the quantity, and the sell fee is subtracted, so your net proceeds are slightly less. Profit is simply net proceeds minus total cost, and it can be negative if the price moved against you or if fees outweighed a small gain. ROI expresses that profit as a percentage of your total cost, which lets you compare trades of different sizes on equal footing. A trade can show a positive raw price move but a negative ROI once fees are included, which is exactly why a fee-aware calculation matters.

Example: 0.5 coin, 0.1% fee each side
ItemValue
Buy 0.5 @ 30,000Cost 15,015 (incl. fee)
Sell 0.5 @ 45,000Proceeds 22,477.50 (after fee)
Profit≈ 7,462.50 · ROI ≈ 49.7%

What this calculator does not include

For accuracy, it helps to know the boundaries. This tool models a single buy and a single sell at fixed prices, so it does not handle partial fills at different prices, dollar-cost averaging across many buys, or staking and interest income — for averaging multiple purchases, a stock or crypto average calculator is the right tool. It also excludes taxes: realised crypto gains are taxable in many jurisdictions, and the rate depends on your location and holding period, so your after-tax profit will be lower than the figure shown. Finally, it assumes a simple percentage fee per side; networks may also charge withdrawal or gas fees that are not captured here. Use the result as a clear pre-tax trading estimate, and layer your local tax rules on top before treating it as your final number.
