How to use Bahamas Income Tax Calculator
This Bahamas income tax calculator confirms that the Bahamas levies no personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals, for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The 0% regime is structural, so whatever salary you enter the income tax is zero and you keep effectively 100% of gross pay aside from National Insurance. Employees do pay National Insurance (NIB) of about 3.9% of insurable wage up to a ceiling, which funds benefits and is not an income tax. Government revenue comes mainly from a 10% VAT, import duties and tourism. The calculator shows your income tax (zero), the NIB position and your take-home in Bahamian dollars.
- Select your tax year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — the Bahamas’ 0% regime is identical in every year.
- Enter your annual gross salary in Bahamian dollars (BSD).
- Keep the filing status as Individual — the Bahamas does not tax personal income.
- Click Calculate to confirm zero income tax and see your take-home pay.
- Review the note on National Insurance (NIB) for context.

Why the Bahamas has no personal income tax
The Bahamas does not impose any personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals. Government revenue comes mainly from a 10% VAT, import duties, business licence fees, real-property tax and tourism, so there is no payroll income tax to withhold. As a result your take-home pay equals your gross pay (before National Insurance): enter BSD 100,000 and your income tax is BSD 0. This is a structural feature, which is why the calculator returns the same zero result for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
National Insurance and other taxes
Employees contribute to National Insurance (NIB) — about 3.9% of insurable wage up to a contribution ceiling, with the employer paying about 5.9%. NIB funds pensions, sickness and maternity benefits and is not an income tax. The Bahamas also has no capital gains tax, no wealth tax and no inheritance tax on individuals. Consumers pay 10% VAT and property owners pay real-property tax, but salaries themselves are never subject to income tax.
