How to use Jersey Income Tax Calculator
This Jersey income tax calculator works out Jersey income tax at the 20% standard rate — the maximum effective rate — for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Most residents are taxed under marginal relief and generous exemption thresholds, so many pay less than 20%; this calculator applies 20% to gross as a transparent upper estimate. The calculator shows your income tax, effective rate and take-home pay in pound sterling, and lets you compare any two tax years side by side.
- Select your tax year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026).
- Enter your annual gross income in pound sterling (GBP).
- Keep the filing status as Individual.
- Click Calculate to see your income tax, effective rate and take-home pay.
- Turn on the year-comparison view to see two tax years side by side.

How Jersey’s 20% standard rate works
Jersey charges income tax at a 20% standard rate, which is also the maximum effective rate. Most residents are taxed under the marginal-relief method — 26% on income above generous exemption thresholds, capped so you never pay more than 20% of total income — so many pay less than 20%. The 20% rate is unchanged across 2023 to 2026.
Exemption thresholds and Social Security
Generous personal exemption thresholds mean lower earners pay little or no tax, and employees also pay 6% Social Security (Class 1). These reduce tax and net pay but are documented rather than deducted, so the calculator shows the 20% standard rate on gross as a transparent upper estimate. Consult Revenue Jersey for exact figures.
