How to use Qatar Income Tax Calculator

This Qatar income tax calculator answers the most-searched question first: Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries or wages. Whether you work in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah or anywhere in the country, your employment income is taxed at 0% — so this calculator shows zero income tax at every income level and, for expatriate workers, 100% take-home pay. Choose 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026; the answer is the same for all four years. Below we also explain the 10% Corporate Income Tax (which applies to business profits, not salaries), the social insurance scheme that applies to Qatari nationals only, and the employer-paid end-of-service gratuity.

  1. Select your year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — the Qatar result is identical for all years.
  2. Enter your annual gross income in Qatari riyals (QAR).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual — Qatar taxes individuals at 0%.
  4. Click Calculate to confirm your income tax is 0 and your effective rate is 0%.
  5. Review the result: as an expatriate, your take-home pay equals your gross salary.

Why there is no income tax in Qatar

Qatar does not levy any personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals. There is no national or regional income tax in Doha or anywhere in the country, and there is no PAYE-style withholding — salaries are paid gross. This is a long-standing policy that remains in force for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, which is why this calculator returns 0 tax for any income and shows expatriates keeping 100% of their pay.

Corporate Income Tax (10%) applies to businesses, not salaries

Qatar levies a 10% Corporate Income Tax, charged mainly on the share of profits attributable to foreign ownership of businesses and on certain foreign-source/business income, administered by the General Tax Authority (GTA). It applies to companies and business activities — not to an individual employee’s salary or wages. Many people confuse this with an income tax, but employment income remains untaxed, so this calculator does not apply any tax to your salary.

Social insurance — Qatari nationals only

The one mandatory salary deduction in Qatar is the social insurance (retirement) contribution, and it applies only to Qatari national employees. Under Qatar’s social insurance law the employee share is 5% of the contribution salary and the employer adds 10%. Expatriate workers — the large majority of the workforce — do not contribute and have no income tax, so their take-home equals gross. This calculator defaults to the expatriate case; a Qatari national would subtract the 5% employee share.

End-of-service gratuity is employer-paid

Instead of an expatriate pension, Qatar’s Labour Law gives departing expatriate workers an end-of-service gratuity — a lump sum based on length of service, typically at least three weeks’ basic pay for each year of service after the first completed year. It is funded entirely by the employer and is paid on leaving; it is never deducted from your monthly salary, so it does not reduce your take-home pay in this calculator.
