How to use Georgia Income Tax Calculator

This Georgia income tax calculator works out the flat 20% personal income tax that applies to employment income in Georgia (the country), for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Georgia withholds the 20% at source with no tax-free threshold, so if you earn GEL 30,000 your income tax is GEL 6,000. On top of income tax, enrolled employees pay a 2% funded-pension contribution (capped on salary above GEL 60,000), while the employer adds 2% and the state co-funds 1–2%. The calculator shows your income tax, the pension deduction, your effective rate and your take-home pay in Georgian lari, and lets you compare any two tax years side by side.

  1. Select your tax year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — Georgia’s flat 20% rate is identical in every year.
  2. Enter your annual gross salary in Georgian lari (GEL).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual — Georgia taxes salaries at a single flat rate.
  4. Click Calculate to see your 20% income tax, 2% pension and take-home pay.
  5. Turn on the year-comparison view to see two tax years side by side.

How Georgia’s flat 20% income tax works

Georgia levies a single flat personal income tax of 20% on employment income, withheld at source by the employer. There is no tax-free threshold, so the 20% applies from the first lari you earn: a GEL 30,000 salary pays GEL 6,000 of income tax and a GEL 50,000 salary pays GEL 10,000. Because the rate is the same at every income level and has been unchanged across 2023–2026, the calculator returns a consistent 20% effective rate on gross salary for each of those years.

The 2% funded pension and what is not taxed here

Since January 2019 enrolled employees pay a 2% funded-pension contribution; the employer adds 2% and the state co-funds 1–2% (1% on the GEL 24,000–60,000 band, nothing above GEL 60,000). No contribution is due on the portion of annual salary above GEL 60,000, so the employee share is capped at GEL 1,200. Special regimes — the 1% small-business turnover tax, the IT/Virtual Zone and International Company status — apply to qualifying business activities, not ordinary salaries, and non-employment income such as dividends, interest, rent and capital gains is generally taxed at 5%. Those are documented but not modelled here.
