How to use Saudi Arabia Income Tax Calculator

This Saudi Arabia income tax calculator answers the most-searched question first: Saudi Arabia has no personal income tax on salaries or wages. Whether you work in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or anywhere in the Kingdom, your employment income is taxed at 0% — so this calculator shows zero income tax at every income level and, for expatriate workers, 100% take-home pay. Choose 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026; the answer is the same for all four years. Below we also explain GOSI social insurance (which applies to Saudi nationals, not expats), plus Zakat (2.5% on business wealth, not salary) and the 15% VAT.

  1. Select your year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — the Saudi result is identical for all years.
  2. Enter your annual gross income in Saudi riyals (SAR).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual — Saudi Arabia taxes individuals at 0%.
  4. Click Calculate to confirm your income tax is 0 and your effective rate is 0%.
  5. Review the result: as an expatriate, your take-home pay equals your gross salary.

Your data never leaves your device — 100% private processing.

Why there is no income tax in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia does not levy any personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals. There is no national or regional income tax in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or anywhere in the Kingdom, and there is no PAYE-style withholding — salaries are paid gross. This has been the long-standing policy and remains in force for 2023, 2024 and 2025, which is why this calculator returns 0 tax for any income and shows expatriates keeping 100% of their pay.

GOSI social insurance — Saudi nationals only

The one mandatory payroll deduction in Saudi Arabia is GOSI (General Organization for Social Insurance), and the employee contribution applies only to Saudi national employees. The Saudi employee share is about 9.75% — 9% for the pension (Annuities) branch plus 0.75% for SANED unemployment insurance — calculated on the contribution wage and capped at SAR 45,000 per month (SAR 540,000 per year). Non-Saudi/expatriate workers pay 0% GOSI; only the employer pays a 2% occupational-hazards contribution for them. This calculator defaults to the expatriate case (no GOSI); a Saudi national would subtract the 9.75% employee share.

Zakat (2.5%) applies to business wealth, not salary

Zakat is a religious wealth levy charged at 2.5% on the Zakat base of Saudi and GCC-owned businesses, collected by ZATCA. It is assessed on trading assets, capital and business wealth — not on an individual employee’s salary or wages. Many people confuse Zakat with an income tax, but employment income is not subject to Zakat withholding, so it does not reduce your take-home pay and is not applied by this calculator.

VAT (15%) is a consumption tax, not an income tax

Saudi Arabia applies a 15% Value Added Tax (VAT) to most goods and services (raised from 5% to 15% in July 2020). VAT is collected at the point of sale and affects what you spend, not what you earn — it is not deducted from your salary and is not a personal income tax. It is included here only to explain the full Saudi tax picture; it does not change your take-home pay calculation.
