How to use Kuwait Income Tax Calculator

This Kuwait income tax calculator confirms that Kuwait levies no personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals, for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The 0% regime is structural, not an annual figure, so whatever salary you enter the income tax is zero and an expatriate keeps 100% of gross pay. Only Kuwaiti and GCC national employees contribute to PIFSS social security (an employee share of about 10.5%); expatriate workers — the large majority of the workforce — contribute nothing, so take-home equals gross. The calculator shows your income tax (zero), your PIFSS position and your take-home pay in Kuwaiti dinars. Kuwait does tax foreign corporate bodies at 15% and applies a Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax to large multinationals, but neither touches an individual’s salary.

  1. Select your tax year (2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026) — Kuwait’s 0% regime is identical in every year.
  2. Enter your annual gross salary in Kuwaiti dinars (KWD).
  3. Keep the filing status as Individual — Kuwait does not tax personal income.
  4. Click Calculate to confirm zero income tax and see your take-home pay.
  5. Review the note on PIFSS social security if you are a Kuwaiti or GCC national.

Why Kuwait has no personal income tax

Kuwait does not impose any personal income tax on the salaries or wages of individuals, and it never has. Public spending is funded largely by oil revenue, so there is no payroll income tax to withhold. As a result, for the default expatriate case your take-home pay equals your gross pay: enter KWD 30,000 and your income tax is KWD 0. This is a structural feature of Kuwaiti law rather than an annual rate, which is why the calculator returns the same zero result for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

PIFSS social security and corporate taxes

Only Kuwaiti and GCC national employees contribute to the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS): the employee share is roughly 10.5% of the contribution salary and the employer adds about 11.5%. Expatriate workers contribute nothing and their end-of-service indemnity is funded by the employer. Separately, Kuwait charges a 15% Corporate Income Tax on the profits of foreign corporate bodies, Zakat/NLST/KFAS levies on Kuwaiti shareholding companies, and a 15% Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax on large multinational groups — none of which tax an individual’s employment income.
