How to use Words to Pages Converter
The words to pages calculator converts a word count into an estimated page count based on font (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri), font size (10pt–14pt), line spacing (single, 1.5×, double) and margin size (narrow, normal, wide). It also shows a reference table for common word counts from 250 to 100,000 words at your current settings.
- Enter your word count or paste text directly.
- Choose font, font size, line spacing and margin settings.
- Read the page estimate and reference table for other word counts at the same settings.

Why page count depends on formatting
At standard settings (Times New Roman 12pt, double spaced, 1-inch margins), approximately 250–275 words fit on one page. Switching to single spacing nearly doubles words per page; changing to Arial 12pt reduces density slightly. Academics typically specify 12pt double-spaced (250 words/page); publishers often use 12pt single-spaced (500 words/page) for manuscript submissions.
| Setting | Words per page |
|---|---|
| 12pt TNR, double-spaced, normal margins | ~250–275 |
| 12pt TNR, single-spaced, normal margins | ~500–550 |
| 11pt Calibri, 1.5×-spaced, normal margins | ~350–380 |
| 10pt Arial, single-spaced, narrow margins | ~600–650 |
Common writing project page targets
Academic essays typically run 2–5 pages (500–1,500 words). A typical novel chapter is 2,500–5,000 words (5–10 pages). A full novel is 80,000–100,000 words (~200–250 pages). A PhD thesis averages 80,000–100,000 words. A business memo is usually under 1 page (250 words). Use the reference table at the bottom of the tool to quickly check page estimates for any standard word count at your current formatting settings.
