How to use WiFi QR Code Generator

Generate a QR code that connects guests and customers to your Wi-Fi network instantly — no password typing required. Scan with any modern iPhone or Android camera app and the device joins automatically. Perfect for homes, cafés, offices, Airbnb properties, and events. The password is encoded locally in your browser; it is never transmitted to any server.

  1. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) exactly as it appears in device settings.
  2. Select the security type: WPA/WPA2 (most networks), WEP (older), or None (open).
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive).
  4. Check "Hidden network" if your SSID is not broadcast publicly.
  5. Download the QR code and display it near your router or at your venue.

Your data never leaves your device — 100% private processing.

How Wi-Fi QR codes work

Wi-Fi QR codes encode a WIFI: URI scheme string: WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:password;H:false;; — this is interpreted natively by iOS 11+ and Android 10+ camera apps. When scanned, the OS prompts the user to join the network without showing the password. The QR code contains the plaintext password, so treat it like a physical password card — display it only in trusted locations and regenerate it when you change the Wi-Fi password.

Security considerations

Since the password is encoded in plaintext in the QR code, anyone who scans or photographs the code can extract the password using a QR decoder. For guest networks, this is acceptable and expected behavior. For corporate networks, use a separate SSID for guests with limited network access rather than sharing the main infrastructure Wi-Fi via QR code. Never post a QR code containing a sensitive network password in a public-facing location.
