How the geo: URI works
The code encodes a geo: URI defined by RFC 5870, in the form geo:latitude,longitude. This is a recognised standard, so phones treat it like any other link and pass it to the registered maps handler. Adding a label uses the optional query form geo:lat,lng?q=lat,lng(Label), which several apps display as a named pin. Because the data is self-contained, the code resolves without any URL shortener or third-party redirect — there is nothing to expire and no tracking layer between the scan and the map.

Getting accurate coordinates
Accuracy matters most when the destination is hard to find. For a building entrance or a gate on a large site, six decimal places of latitude and longitude pinpoint a spot to about 0.1 metres — far more than enough. The quickest source is the "use my current location" button while you are physically at the place, which reads your device GPS. Alternatively, open a maps app, long-press the exact point, and copy the coordinates from the panel that appears. Avoid rounding the numbers, as trimming decimals can move the pin by tens of metres.
