How calendar QR codes are built
The tool assembles an iCalendar VEVENT block — the same format used by .ics files that calendar apps import. Each detail becomes a property: SUMMARY for the title, DTSTART and DTEND for the times, LOCATION for the place, and DESCRIPTION for notes. Timed events store a local date-time (YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS), while all-day events store just a date. Because the whole event is encoded in the QR pattern, there is no link to a hosted file that could break — the data travels with the code itself, and the scanner reconstructs the event locally.

Time zones and reliability tips
Event QR codes store the local time you enter as a "floating" time, which calendar apps interpret in the device's own time zone. For a single-location event that is exactly what you want — 7 PM means 7 PM wherever the guest is. For events that attendees join remotely across time zones, state the time zone explicitly in the title or description so no one is caught out. As with any QR code, print it at a reasonable size with a clear border, keep the description concise so the pattern stays easy to scan, and always test the finished code on a real phone before distributing it.
