How to use HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert HEIC and HEIF photos from iPhone and other Apple devices to universally compatible JPEG files — entirely in your browser using the heic2any library. Batch convert multiple files at once with no upload and no quality loss. HEIC is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11; converting to JPG restores compatibility with Windows, Android, web browsers, and most photo editors.

  1. Click "Browse" or drag your HEIC/HEIF files onto the drop zone (batch conversion is supported).
  2. Review the file list — oversized files (over 50 MB) are flagged and skipped automatically.
  3. Click "Convert to JPG" — a progress bar shows conversion status for each file.
  4. Download individual JPG files using the per-file download buttons.
  5. Or click "Download All" to save all converted files at once.

Your data never leaves your device — 100% private processing.

HEIC vs. JPG: format comparison

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) uses the HEVC (H.265) codec to compress photos roughly 50% smaller than JPEG at equivalent visual quality. A typical iPhone photo in HEIC is 2–4 MB compared to 4–8 MB for the same photo in JPEG. However, HEIC has limited compatibility outside the Apple ecosystem — Windows 10 and 11 require an optional codec download, Android devices often cannot open HEIC files, and many web platforms and older photo editors do not support the format. Converting to JPG sacrifices some file-size efficiency but guarantees universal compatibility for sharing, uploading, and archiving.

iPhone HEIC settings and how to disable

iPhones running iOS 11 or later default to HEIC format. To switch to JPEG on-device, go to Settings → Camera → Formats and select "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency". Alternatively, when transferring photos to a Mac or Windows PC via USB, iOS can automatically convert HEIC to JPG — on iPhone go to Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC and select "Automatic". AirDrop transfers between Apple devices keep the HEIC format. For sharing across platforms, converting at transfer time using this tool is the most reliable method.
