How to use Upside Down Text Generator

The Upside Down Text Generator flips your text so it reads as if rotated 180 degrees, instantly in your browser. It swaps each letter, digit and common punctuation mark for a Unicode character that resembles its upside-down twin, then reverses the order so the whole line looks correctly inverted. The result is real, copy-and-paste text rather than an image, which means you can drop it straight into an Instagram or TikTok bio, a username, a chat message or a comment to make it stand out. It is a fun, instant way to add a playful, eye-catching twist to plain text.

  1. Type or paste your text into the input box.
  2. The upside-down version is generated automatically.
  3. Review the flipped result on the right.
  4. Click copy to put it on your clipboard.
  5. Paste it into your bio, username, post or message.

Your data never leaves your device — 100% private processing.

How flipping actually works

Despite appearances, this tool does not rotate an image — it produces genuine text using the Unicode standard. Unicode contains thousands of characters beyond the basic Latin alphabet, and many of them happen to look like an upside-down version of a familiar letter. The lowercase “e”, for instance, resembles the character “ǝ”, and “a” resembles “ɐ”. The generator maps each character of your input to one of these look-alikes and then reverses the entire string, because a line that is physically flipped is read from what was the end to what was the beginning. The combination of substitution and reversal is what makes the output read smoothly when viewed as though turned upside down.

Where flipped text works (and where it does not)

Because the output is standard Unicode, it pastes correctly into the vast majority of modern apps and websites: social media bios and posts, messaging apps, documents and many form fields. A handful of platforms normalise or strip unusual characters, and some older systems or fonts may not have a glyph for every flipped character, in which case you might see a box or a fallback shape. A few symbols also have no sensible upside-down equivalent in Unicode, so the tool leaves them as-is rather than substituting something misleading. If a particular site rejects the text, it is usually applying its own filtering rather than a problem with the generated characters themselves.

Worked examples

Inputs: hello

Result: oๅๅǝɥ

Flip a phrase

Inputs: Hi there

Result: ǝɹǝɥʇ ıH
